My answer will be from doing 10 years of stereo equip. installs and working at various auto part stores… Run a seperate power source (preferably an optima red or yellow top) installed wherever you want to install it…you can buy a battery box to put it in and mount it in a sturdy area…depending on the vehicle that you have ( Chevys and Ford truck/suvs) have kits to install a second alternator to keep it charged… the optima batteries are gel cell batteries that are almost impossible to kill….but again it depends on the amount of money you want to spend…also you will need to purchase power invertors with 120 watt or better plugs…some you buy now will come also with USB 2.0 plug in ports!

I know they will never sell for that price but a brand new Kia Rio is $8,000 with a 5 year warranty and it runs great and is fun to drive. That is not always true for a 2003 car..
