No Substitue for MBT’s
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
If you are an MBT fan and are thinking that Skechers might be a good money-saving alternative, think again. I have worn MBT’s for several years and recently purchased a pair of Skechers. There is really no comparison. They may look similar, but they do not feel the same on your feet. I even substituted some MBT insoles to see if that would help. It did not. With MBT’s I feel like I am walking barefoot on a soft sand; with Skechers it’s more like walking barefoot on concrete. Skechers are much cheaper, but I do not recommend them if you are used to MBT’s.

These shoes give me way more support than anything I’ve had in the past, and I like the feeling when I’m walking. I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and am unable to get much exercise, so wearing these shoes all day is a real help.

Happy with the shoes
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I bought these shoes for my Boyfriend for Christmas. He really likes them. He has mentioned that his legs are a bit sore after wearing them but over all they are very comfortable. Walking in them feels very good. He also says they’re fun because they have a lot of cusion and this helps when you are flat footed. I would recommend them to anyone who likes to walk and feel good in their shoes.

Good Shoe
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I’ve had my ShapeUps for just about a month now. At present, I use them exclusively on our treadmill, trying to keep them clean (it’s still snowy and muddy here). I have to say, most of the other reviews seem to be correct. The shoe works muscles (calves, hamstrings, lower back)that I’m not used to using when I walk, and it seems to force you to walk more upright, improving your posture. They DO take some getting used to, though. When I first put the shoes on, they felt downright weird, and as folks have said, there is some muscle soreness in the beginning until your body gets used to them. I can’t speak to weight loss, at least not yet. I have a wide foot (9 1/2 E), so I was concerned about the fit. I bought a half size larger in regular width as suggested, and they seem to fit well with maybe just a little sliding in the heel but not enough to be an issue. When I change into my well-worn NB’s, I feel like I have newspapers tied on my feet.

Seems to work
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Walking is my primary exercise….about twice a week in the winter and 5-6 times a week when I’m getting ready for a trip. My walks are usually 3-5 miles. Prior to these shoes, I was wearing another brand of “regular” flat walking shoes at roughly the same price. I only wear these shoes when I walk, not to work etc. To date, I’ve worn Skechers on about 10 walks. I was skeptical of the claim it worked all of the leg and some lower back muscles, but thought the idea of “rolling” forward would help the calf. After my first couple of walks, I noticed my legs got a much better work out than they ever did in flat shoes and my lower back hurt a bit. After the third walk or so, my lower back stopped hurting and my legs still fell pretty tired…so I’d say the shoes help produce a good workout. For me, the shoes are very comfortable. It is like walking in sand and they felt good right away. Things like “balance” etc. never seemed like a problem. One thing I had to “learn” was not coming down so hard on my heel (this meant, for me, taking a natural step and not “trying” to rock into the step.) The reason the shoes get four stars and not five is because the heel is not snug (side to side) and if there is a bit of tilt on the street or path, it seems that my heel slides in the shoe. I believe I read that they don’t make the shoes very tight so that you have to use your muscles more… Whether or not that is case, I have noticed that I am even pretty used to a little bit of heel slip at this point. To work different muscles, I use the Skechers on two walks and then my flat walking shoes on one. Works for me. As of now, I would buy another pain of Skechers when this pair wears out.

Joint Savers!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
The trainers are extremely comfortable. If you walk and hold your posture as instructed you definitely do feel the workout, particularly in your calves and hamstrings. They give you the feeling (and the actuality) of some extra height, which is enhanced by your automatically improving your posture as you go. It’s a psychological thing – they somehow make you correct slouch, extend your spine and hold your core muscles in tight as you walk. The balance training aspect of the trainers’ usage is less easy to measure, but everything feels like it’s being improved – little by little. My “shattered” soccer knees have rarely felt more impact-protected. I have had numerous cartilege operations, have a torn irreparable anterior cruciate ligament and some arthritis in those joints. I attend gym and gym classes regularly and am pretty fit aerobically etc. These trainers definitely help me to protect my knees and keep active in the gym. Good value for money, reasonably good in the styling, comfortable and effective.

Skechers shape ups
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
These shoes take a little getting time to become accustomed to. At first you feel as if you are walking on spoonge balls, but you quickly learn to walk in them and they become comfortable and useful.
They will change how you walk, you step will become longer and you will start to feel a spring in your step.
I like them and believe they will make a difference in my overall health.

You can feel it!
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
You can definitely feel these in your upper legs and hips when you walk.
On level ground it’s a bit of a constant balancing act hence the actions of some muscles not normally used. After a few uses those muscles become accustomed and it’s kind of a bouncy walk.
On a relatively steep smooth incline, it feels like a real workout and it feels like you have walked 3 times the distance. Your legs really feel it.
On an even rocky trail, you need to be pay attention to your walk. It seems like it could be relatively easy to twist an ankle if you side-stepped a rock. I have only done this trail walk a couple of times and it was easier the second time. It must build something in your ankles. Just be aware the first time.
Overall a seemingly good pair of shoes. My butt feels it the longest after a walk.

Skechers Shape-Ups…like walking on pillows
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I decided to spend the $100 for a pair of Skechers Shape-Ups. So far, I am happy. I do a lot of walking on my job, and the shoes are extremely comfortable. I do feel less knee and back pain already from wearing the Shape-Ups. I am typically hard on shoes, and the Shape-Ups are holding up quite well, so far. Walking with them is like walking on pillows. I am so happy with these that I plan to buy a second pair later on.

Skechers Shape Ups
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I actually got these for my wife for Christmas. We have a co-worker that bought a pair last summer and really liked them so my wife had wanted to try them too. In researching I found that in women sizes they seem to run a little small so I took a chance and got the mens size for her and they fit just a little big, but perfectly. Our co-worker got the “work” style but for the cost savings the “walking” style worked perfectly and look identical. My wife said she likes them a lot, after you get used to the rolling motion of the design. They also add about 2 inches to her height. Pretty pricey but best price was found on Amazon. Hopefully they’ll be less expensive when she wears these out and wants a new pair!

Hubby LOVES these!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I got a pair of a different brand very much like the Shape-ups at Christmas. Everyone complimented me on my “neat looking” shoes and I think maybe my DH got a little jealous. Hee hee! But I kept telling him and everyone else, I don’t care what they looked like, they were like walking on clouds! I loved my shoes and recommended them to everyone. However, my husband couldn’t take me up on my recommendation because the brand I bought only carried women’s shoes/sizes. The Skechers so far is the only shoes that carry the men’s styles and sizes without breaking the bank. Granted, they are a little pricey, but I think they have been well worth it because my husband is absolutely in love with the pair he just received (he got the white and navy ones). The extra height is an added bonus as well. They make him about 2 inches taller and he’s totally digging that. Ha! He will be attending a conference later this month where he has to walk around most of the day, so that will be well worth the price if it can save his feet and back. So far he has no complaints and has walked around quite a lot to get used to them (can you say Sam’s Club and Wal-mart browsing!) and says he actually feels invigorated after walking in them and his posture is better!. That is a thumbs-up in my book!

Walking a Lot with Skechers These Days
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I’m a pretty hefty man and I figured it was about time to get back into shape. My wife bought these for me because she saw a couple commercials and thought it would be easy and effortless for me to start. Well, not so easy and not so effortless, but start I did.
It takes a lot for me to hop onto my wife’s treadmill but these I just put on and walk in them all day (outside, not on the treadmill, however, sometimes, with these on, I do walk on it). These Skechers have worked really well for me. I feel my legs getting stronger every day, okay the shoes didn’t do that, but heck, they kind of helped, because now I’m walking more. Anyway needless to say, I’m very happy with Skechers.

The most uncomfortable shoe every put on my feet
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
My wife got a pair of the Sketcher shape-up shoes and liked them. I have back problems and thought I would give them a try. I put them on for the 1st time and knew that they would take some time to get used to. After walking around in them for a half hour, I decided to return them so I called and got a return number. Then, I thought maybe I just needed to break them in. So I wore them for 5 or 6 hours one day to see if I could get used to them. Now it is too late to return them. The shoes cost a lot and I don’t wear them. I think mine are a factory defect. My wife and I both wear the same shoe size. I tried her pair of sketchers on and they felt nothing like mine. They felt very nice. My right shoe is not bad – there is a little bulge in the arch of the foot. The left shoe, however, is like walking around with a big knot or bulge right in the arch of my foot. The day I wore them 5 or 6 hours, my ankles hurt the next day. Very uncomfortable.
With all that said, if you are thinking about trying them, do. My wife likes hers. I do think mine are defective, but if you get them and they don’t feel good to you right away don’t be like me and wear them and think you will break them in. They will break you before you can break them.
Most uncomfortable shoe I ever owned.

Super comfortable!
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I wanted to try these to get some more exercise while I walk as I’ve gotten a bit lazy. The minute I put them on I instantly said to myself WOW these feel like pillows, they are so soft and comfortable. Walking takes just a little to get used to because the back of the shoe is rounded but you quickly adjust to them. You will feel your posture is better and feel less pressure on your back. I suffer from a bad back and I do feel a difference with these. I first thought they were just another gimmick but they do help. The sole is a bit thick but the style of these sneakers help disguise the extra thick sole.
pros:
helps posture
relieves back pain
SUPER comfortable
strengthens legs
cons:
thick sole
takes a little to get used to when walking

Bought for my posture
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I was a little skeptical after seeing these on TV but tried them to improve my posture. I am 42 and have noticed my posture is becoming bad. They worked! I think the rocking effect makes you stand straight because if your hunched over it feels like you will fall forward. When I tried them on at the shoe store, they made me work for my walk. I thought it would be hard to get used to but within an hour I was getting the hang of it. I walk all day long and these by far have been the best shoe for that. I can feel my thighs and especially calves muscles being used. If you’re going to wear a sneaker, why not work out your muscles? They work your calves which circulate your blood (as what a doctor told me). I am buying some for my dad also who works in a post office transporting packages and boxes. I think he will really benefit from these. They especially work well with small inclines. You can feel the difference.

Skechers Shape Ups
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
These “Shape Ups” are by far the most comfortable ‘sneaker’ I’ve worn. They do as advertised. Due to injuries, suffered many years ago, my walking distance has been compromised and any leg exercise is completely out of the question. When I am wearing the “Shape Ups” my walking distance increases, I am more conciencious of my posture, and am gaining stamina in my seldom used leg muscles. I hihgly recommend this product.

Great work sneakers!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
They’re for walking, not for running! Keep that in mind. If your job involves a lot of standing, moving from A to B in a slow/normal pace, being on your feet for extanded period of time, you should consider these shoes. Really nice alternative for clogs. It may take some time to get used to them (I felt like I’m in a bouncing castle in the beginning). Try them at home first, take a few short walks, make sure you feel comfotable. I know it sounds silly, but they put me in a better mood. Only one thing I’m curious about is how long they’ll last? Are they durable? I don’t know yet, ’cause I’ve got them recently, I hope they are, otherwise I’ll stick with my old everlasting clogs!

Sketcher Shape-Ups
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I purchased the Sketcher Shape-ups in hope to strengthen my back and abdominals, as I do have lumbar problems. Over the period of a week, of breaking them in, and getting used to the shoe, I could barely walk.the product is not meant for people with back problems, but probably great for the every day user. The company I purchased them from was fantastic, and fast in shipment.

I was at the mall the other day and had tried another brand of this type of shoe on. It felt great and I was very interested in them. However they were 290.00 dollars, so I pasted on purchasing them. I then saw the skechers on- line and for only 90.00 dollars it was worth the risk. I have to say I really like them; a lot. Since purchasing them I have lost five pounds, without dieting. I only wear them to work and I am on my feet walking and standing 90% of the time. The difference in my posture is amazing. just in the way I now stand as well as in the way I walk. I was a little sore the first couple of days, mostly in my lower/middle back mussles. This has since gone away. this is a great shoe that forces you to focus on your posture as well as your balance well standing. Love the shoe and a great price. I may even go back and get the more expensive pair just because they seem to be softer when you step and I think they would work the mussle more.
