The Carbera line from Chicago Cutlery features traditional three-rivet styling, yet the handles are made of white polymer for a clean, bright, contemporary look. Even the slots in the hardwood storage block are lined with the white polymer, while the top is surfaced with stainless steel. A chrome bar supports the block in front. Each knife features a forged, high-carbon stainless-steel blade that has been honed with the company's exclusive Taper Grind technology for optimum sharpness. The full-tang construction adds weight and strength for good balance and stability. Along with the hardwood block, this 12-piece set includes the following 11 utensils: four steak knives; 3-1/2-inch paring knife; 5-inch utility knife; 5-inch partoku; 7-inch santoku; 8-inch serrated bread knife; kitchen shears; and 8-inch sharpening steel. A partoku, for those unfamiliar with the term, is a combination paring knife and santoku, the Asian-style, thin-slicing chef's knife that has become a staple of American kitchens in recent years.
