Sports Car Tips on Buying Preowned Sports Cars
July 20, 2010 by stuart
Filed under Car Electronics & GPS
Sometimes the best buys are made with pre-owned products. This is particularly true in the case of sports cars. Many people would like to have a sports car mainly for the performance but some may want to simply experience the sheer enjoyment that only a sport’s cars can give. Buying a brand new sports car may be too much expense for many people, that’s why a pre-owned or second hand sports car should be considered.
Here some good advice in the purchasing of pre-owned sports cars.
1. Set expectations
Many people go out to buy a pre-owned sports car with a brand new car in mind. Buying pre-owned sports cars is about getting the best value for your money. Knowing your needs and preferences is also a must in buying pre-owned sports cars.
2. Set a budget
Buying a sports car, even pre-owned ones can be expensive Researching through internet browsing or buying “buy and sell” car magazines can give a buyer a general feeling about the current prices of different sports car models.
3. Examine carefully
A buyer must be careful in inspecting the pre-owned car and take his time doing so. There are four essential elements of the car that should be thoroughly inspected: the interior, the body, the engine, and the papers. A well-maintained sports car is worth buying.
Open the hood and examine the car’s engine. Many people may not know too much about car electronics but inspection will give a buyer a general feel of how the car has been maintained by the previous owner.
Check the inside of the tailpipe. If it is greasy, that means that there is a problem with the engine compression.
Check for scratches or dents on the cars body. Of course, do not forget to check the car’s title, etc. Missing papers will cost the buyer additional money or prevent the purchase.
4. Test Drive
Before a purchase, the buyer should take the car for a test drive. This is a “must” for all cars, not only for pre-owned ones. An assessment of the over-all handling and performance of the car should be made during the test drive.
Buying a pre-owned maybe the best choice in purchasing a sports car, especially when one is faced by budget constraints. Pre-owned sports cars have the potential to give the same excitement and fun that brand new ones can give. Choose and buy wisely and have fun while doing so.

It is very essential to wash your car at regular intervals of time. It helps improve car functioning, operation, and also adds life to your car. Most of the people take good care of their cars when it is new but then as the car becomes old, car maintenance and washing becomes insignificant. Infact, the biggest fact is that old cars need more frequent washing than the new cars.
Car wash can be defined as an activity to remove dirt and grime from the car body and give a new look to the car exterior. Taking the term to a wider extent, it also includes cleaning and maintaining the car interiors. This activity is very important for all car owners because if dirt gets deposit on the exterior structure of the body, it loses car’s appeal and may also cause rust.
Here are some of the most satisfying car washing tips:
Park your car in the shade because if it is parked under sunlight it may result in premature drying of the car.
Don’t use dish soap for washing your car. Also make sure that the soap is diluted with water before using for car wash.
Wash the car using a sponge starting from the top end of the car. Use the principle of gravity according to which the soap that you apply on the car roof will flow down. So, clean the roof first, then the sides, doors and windows. Clean the underside of the car and the tyres at the end, as they are the most dirties portion of the car and requires thorough cleaning.
Clean the bumpers and fenders more thoroughly as bugs accumulate in that section of the car and are toughest to remove.
Keep on rinsing every section of the car using a hose immediately after you are done with washing that section. This will prevent water droplets from drying on the car paint.
After cleaning the car dry it with a clean cloth preferably a microfiber towel. These towels are considered to be best for drying car exteriors.
Use glass cleaners to clean car windows as they add better shine to the windows.
Once the exterior is cleaned, vacuum clean the interiors. Remove all the rugs, mats and carpets from the car to remove al the dirt.
For cleaning dashboard and other car electronics in the car interior, you can use specialized cleansers
Ensure to park your car in a driveway or grassy surface so that water flowing down during the wash does not block any path.

7 Useful Tips to Maintain Your Car
July 10, 2010 by stuart
Filed under Car Electronics & GPS
Proper car care and maintenance helps increase the life of your car and enhance driving experience. When we say that it will enhance driving experience is not because maintenance will add comfort to the experience but because when a car is in a well-maintained condition, the possibilities of car failure reduce. This in turn enables you to enjoy a safer and stress-free ride.
In addition, a well-maintained car also improves the engine performance, enhances fuel-efficiency, and increases the resale value of your car. So, some time taken to maintain your car today will prove beneficial in the long run.
Here are the some of the useful tips for car maintenance:
The most important part of a car is the car engine. Therefore, it is very important to take good care of the engine. Inspect the engine well for ensure proper functioning of all the engine components. If any component needs to be replaced, replace it immediately. Also check the engine oil once in every two weeks. If the level is low, add oil to the tank and if you find any kind of adulterant empty the tank and reload the car engine oil. Make sure that you use the oil as recommended by the car manufacturer.
Then come to the car battery. It is a car component that generates energy to the car electronics and other high-end technologies in the car. It is linked with various components in the car through electric cables. Visually inspect these cables and also inspect the battery for corrosion.
Most of the significant car components like the dash lights, taillights, headlights, brake lights, and turn signals work on electric power. Make sure that all these are in proper working condition. If any of these lights are not working properly, it may lead to an injury or even a fatal accident.
Check the condition and working of the windshield wipers to ensure that there are no cracks in the wiper. Replace the wiper blade if required. Don’t touch the wiper blades with your hand as the oil in your fingers may hamper the performance of the wipers.
Tyre care is also very important. Check the tyres for uneven wear and appropriate air-pressure. Any kind of wear or cut on the surface of the tyre may cause the tyre to burst and incorrect air pressure may cause premature tyre failure. In both the cases, you may meet a fatal car accident.
Check the level of engine coolant once every fifteen days. Low level of engine coolant may cause overheating and hamper the performance of the engine. Also check for old radiator hoses or loose clamps periodically as this may cause the leakage of the coolant. Any leakage of the coolant may lead to overheating and expensive repairs. Replace the hoses if required.
Your driving style and habit also influences the condition of your car. To keep your car in a well-maintained condition, it is also important to follow good driving methods. Never apply abrupt braking and acceleration. Also avoid driving with your foot on the clutch pedal. Release the pedal fully while driving.

Automotive Photography Information Tips

The Pirelli calendar is one that’s eagerly awaited by all and sundry involved with automotive matters and excellent photography, but ‘sundry’ rarely ever gets to own a copy. Even so, there is always keen interest in both the models, the photographer/s shooting this exclusive calendar, and how the models are depicted in the calendar.
One of the most striking, and yet subtle, calendars from this tyre company came several years ago when the tyre tread pattern was tastefully depicted as an element of the whole image. This time around, the thirty-fifth, Pirelli has a more commercial motive behind the choice of models – Pirelli’s increased presence in China with the opening of a new tyre plant. So, along with the inclusion of Chinese models in the calendar, the theme of the calendar focuses on Shanghai, along with its teahouses and former colonial areas.
The photographer is Patrick Demarchelier, originally from the small French sea town of Le Havre. He is possibly most well known as being Princess Diana’s official photographer – historic because he was the first non-Brit to photograph the royal family. This is Demarchelier second time as the Pirelli calendar photographer – the first was in 2005 in Rio de Janeiro in exotic, sultry Brazil.
The 2008 edition has (disappointingly for those expecting a skin show) 23 portraits, the odd number due to August having just one. The selected models include Agyness Deane and Lily Donaldson (UK), Doutzen Kroes (the Netherlands), Catherine Mc Neil and Gemma Ward (Australia), Sasha Pivovarova (Russia), Coco Rocha (Ireland) and Caroline Trentini (Brazil). The Chinese beauties are Mo Wan Dan, Du Juan and Maggie Cheung, the latter is an actress known for her roles in Chinese and English films like Police Story, Super Cop, Actress, Chinese Box and others.
Du Juan, whose name means both the Azalea flower and the Cuckoo bird, was the first Asian model to grace the cover of French Vogue. Mo Wandan was born in Guangdong Province, China. She trained in track and field, but quit after injury. After she participated in, and won, the China Model Star Contest in 2004, she was signed on by a modeling agency.
You’ve just won the lottery, or suddenly discovered a great inheritance. Whatever the reason – the important thing is that now you’re rich. But there’s a catch, there always is. It’s not what you’re thinking though – you don’t have to sell your soul, far from it in fact. The only condition is that you have no choice but to spend all the money in a single year, and no safe investments allowed either.
Now you can really rub your hands with delight – you may actually enjoy this yet. If you like to travel the world, and have even a hint of petrol in your veins, here are a few good tips on how you can make the most of it:
Another legend of the sport and multiple F1 champion, Sir Jackie Stewart, termed the infamous Nurburgring – ‘the Green Hell.’ At the time, the track was both revered and anticipated for the challenge it presented, but also dreaded for the threat it posed. Sir Jackie, a forceful proponent for safety during his time in F1, once exclaimed that if he were ever to go around the track slowly, and in doing so notice the real dangers it posed, he may never race there again.
